BirdHouse: Matchmaking and live ops for game developers
Matchmaking is in early access
Products
Matchmaking, configured in code.
Your game server creates a ticket for a player or party, with the rules a match must meet. BirdHouse groups compatible tickets across your servers and returns the match.
-- Configured client, current player, sample skill.
local session = client:CreateSession({
players = {{ id = tostring(player.UserId) }},
meta = { mode = "ranked", skill = 1200 },
constraints = {
type = "and",
constraints = {
-- Four players, same mode.
{ type = "playerCount", min = 4, max = 4 },
{ type = "fieldEqualsDeep", field = "mode" },
-- Widen the skill range as players wait.
{
type = "fieldWindow", field = "skill",
min = 50, max = 200, spreadRate = 2,
},
},
},
})What these rules do
- Set the match size
- Four players in this example.
- Match by mode
- Keep ranked players together using your own ticket metadata.
- Ease the skill range
- Start at ±50 points. Widen by 2 points per second, up to ±200.
Combine rules with AND, OR, and NOT. Every ticket’s rules must pass.
Your game reserves the server and teleports or moves the players. SDK package access and a service endpoint are arranged with the team.
Our mission
The tools needed to manage and grow software are still out of reach for many new developers. BirdHouse’s mission is to close that gap.

FAQ
What is available now?
Matchmaking is in early access, and access is arranged with the team. Analytics is in development and not available yet. Feature flags, configuration, and experiments are planned.
Does Matchmaking work with Roblox and other engines?
On Roblox, yes: a Luau SDK runs in server Scripts, not LocalScripts. There is no SDK for other engines; a game server or backend you control can call the HTTP API.
Does BirdHouse reserve servers or teleport players?
No. BirdHouse returns the matched group. Your game reserves the server and teleports or moves the players into it.
How do I ask about pricing?
Pricing is discussed directly with the team. Add your question to the optional notes in the form below.
