This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you visit our website, apply for early access, or contact us.
Who we are
BirdHouse is operated by DataHawk Solutions, Inc. (in this policy, “BirdHouse,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We are responsible for the personal information we use to operate this website, respond to enquiries, and manage early-access requests. Our company location and contact details are below.
This policy covers the public BirdHouse website and documentation, the interest form, and correspondence with us about those activities. It does not cover employment records or explain how a customer processes players’ information through a hosted product. Hosted services require separate service terms and any applicable data-processing arrangements. If you play a game that uses BirdHouse, contact that game’s operator about its privacy practices.
You can reach us at privacy@birdhouse.tech. The contact section also points you to general, support, legal, and security enquiries.
Information we receive
When you browse
Your browser sends connection and request information to the systems delivering the site. This can include your IP address, the requested page or file, browser and device information, the date and time, and a referring page where your browser supplies it. Hosting and security providers may process this information to deliver content and protect their infrastructure.
Documentation search runs locally against a static index downloaded with the site. Search queries are not sent to a search provider. Interactive product demonstrations use illustrative data; they do not connect to your game, account, or production analytics.
Human verification on the interest form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. Cloudflare processes browser and connection signals to distinguish human visitors from bots and to improve its bot detection. See Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Addendum for details. Turnstile does not receive your form entries through its widget; the submitted form is handled separately as described below.
When you request early access
The interest form requires an email address, at least one product of interest, a project name, team size, approximate monthly active users and peak concurrent users, and permission to email you about access to those products. You must also confirm that you are an adult in your country of residence; we do not ask for your date of birth. For monthly active users and peak concurrent users, you can choose “Not launched yet” or “I don’t know” when appropriate. A link to your project and questions or notes are optional.
Your submission includes the product choices, your separate choice about optional product news, and the versions of the privacy notice and email-permission wording presented to you. These versions identify the information and email choices associated with the submission. Requesting access does not create an account or collect payment details.
The interest endpoint is a Cloudflare Worker, which verifies the human-verification token and stores accepted requests in a Cloudflare D1 database, along with a server-recorded submission time. The endpoint uses request information for rate limiting; it does not add your IP address or the Turnstile token to the interest-list database.
Details are transmitted when you submit an enabled form. If registration is unavailable, the disabled form does not send your entered details. Unsaved input stays in the current page; your browser may separately offer autofill or restoration under its own settings.
When you contact us
We receive the email address, name or signature, message contents, attachments, and other information you choose to send, together with ordinary email delivery information. Support or security correspondence may include technical details you provide.
Please keep submissions limited to what we need. Do not put passwords, API keys, payment-card details, government identifiers, health information, personal information about players, or confidential project material into the interest form. For a sensitive security report, contact us first to arrange an appropriate way to share it.
Why we use it
- Run the website: deliver pages and documentation, remember display settings you choose, investigate errors, and protect the site against abuse.
- Handle your access request: record your selected interests, understand your project requirements, and communicate about access. Registration does not guarantee an invitation or a launch date.
- Send optional product news: use the separate email choice you make. Declining news does not prevent an access request.
- Respond to you: handle enquiries, product questions, privacy requests, complaints, and security reports.
- Meet legal responsibilities: address valid legal requests, resolve disputes, and maintain records where required by applicable law.
Submitting an access request does not authorize unrelated marketing, and this policy is not a blanket consent form. Where a use requires consent, you can withdraw it as explained below. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Legal bases where required
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, it must be identified for the particular purpose. Consent may apply to optional product news; handling a request before a contract, compliance with law, or appropriately balanced legitimate interests may apply to other activities. We do not treat all of these as interchangeable reasons to use information.
- Purpose-specific legal bases
- Where a legal basis is required, we rely on consent for optional product news; legitimate interests in operating and protecting the website, responding to enquiries, and managing early-access requests; and compliance with legal obligations where processing is required by law. Our early-access email permission is limited to the products you select. You may withdraw email permission or object to processing based on legitimate interests by contacting privacy@birdhouse.tech.
Who receives it
Information needed to operate the site and answer you may be handled by the people responsible for that work at DataHawk and by providers of website hosting, infrastructure, form processing, and email. An email address on this page is a contact route, not a public mailing list.
Cloudflare supplies the interest-form Worker, D1 database, and Turnstile security service. Cloudflare processes Turnstile signals on our behalf for website protection and also acts as a controller when using those signals to improve its bot detection, as explained in its Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
- Website hosting and delivery
- Cloudflare Workers with Static Assets.
- Interest-form processing
- Cloudflare Workers processes interest requests; Cloudflare D1 stores them; Cloudflare Turnstile verifies form submissions.
- Email services
- Google Workspace handles correspondence sent to our @birdhouse.tech contact addresses. The interest form records applications without sending automated email.
- Other disclosures, including sale or sharing
- Application information is handled by DataHawk personnel responsible for early access and by the infrastructure and communication providers described in this policy. Information may also be disclosed for legal obligations, protection of rights and safety, or a business transaction, as described above.
We may also need to disclose information in response to a binding legal obligation, to establish or defend legal claims, or to address fraud, abuse, or a threat to safety. If a business transaction changes who is responsible for this information, any transfer remains subject to applicable law and the protections and notices required for that change.
External services you choose to visit, such as Discord, operate under their own privacy policies. Ordinary outbound links are not embedded social-tracking widgets. Information you publish on a third-party community may be visible to others under that service’s settings.
Cookies & browser signals
We do not use advertising trackers, visitor analytics, or session replay. Fonts and visual assets are served with the website. Documentation display preferences use your browser’s session storage only after you change a setting. Choosing “Got it” on the cookie notice creates a local-storage entry that remembers the dismissal for 90 days; it is removed when you next visit after expiry or a notice-version change.
These stored values are not sent to a server by our preference code and are not cross-site identifiers. You can turn preference saving off, clear saved display settings, and reset the notice at Cookies & Storage. Browser session restoration can preserve a tab’s session storage. Turnstile is configured without the optional pre-clearance cookie; its single-use verification token protects form submissions.
The current website code does not change its behavior in response to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals. It does not implement cross-site advertising tracking. These statements describe the website code; provider-side and other disclosure practices are addressed above. Any future processing subject to a browser-signal requirement needs appropriate controls before it begins.
- Tracking in emails
- We do not track email opens or link clicks.
How long we keep it
Retention depends on why information was collected: the status of your request, whether we need it to respond to you, any applicable recordkeeping or dispute requirements, and the time needed to remove copies from active systems and backups. Optional project notes should not be kept simply because storage is available.
- Website access and security logs
- We have disabled stored Worker application logs and do not log submitted email addresses or project details. Cloudflare may retain network and security information under its own retention policies to operate and protect its services.
- Interest requests, correspondence, and email records
- Applications, including project details and email preferences, expire 12 months after submission and are removed from active database records during daily cleanup. Duplicate submissions do not extend this period. Copies of application information in correspondence or exports follow the same schedule. Other correspondence is kept only as needed to resolve the enquiry or meet a specific legal obligation. We may retain the minimum record needed to honor an opt-out or meet a legal requirement. Backup copies expire under provider recovery schedules and are not used for outreach.
A request to stop emails may require a minimal suppression record so that you are not added back to a mailing list. A deletion request may be subject to limited legal or security exceptions. Where an exception applies, the response should explain it; an email opt-out is not permission to keep using the information for marketing.
Security
The deployed interest form sends requests over HTTPS and does not save your email or project details in browser storage. Server-side validation, human verification, and rate limiting help protect the endpoint from automated abuse. These safeguards do not guarantee the security of every provider or system.
- Operational safeguards
- The website uses HTTPS, server-side input validation, request limits, and human verification. Cloudflare encrypts D1 data at rest and in transit. The public website does not provide access to stored applications.
No method of internet transmission or storage can guarantee absolute security. Report a suspected vulnerability to security@birdhouse.tech. Please send a short description without credentials or other people’s information; see our security-reporting guidance before sharing technical evidence.
Your choices & requests
You can browse documentation without joining the interest list, leave the project link and questions or notes blank, decline product news, and change browser preference settings. To ask us to stop access or product-news emails, contact privacy@birdhouse.tech from the address used for the request and tell us which messages you want to stop. You do not need to create an account to contact us.
- Unsubscribe process for outgoing email
- Email privacy@birdhouse.tech to stop early-access messages, product news, or both. Requests are handled manually and do not require an account. Stopping early-access messages closes your application and ends its product-news subscription; you can stop product news alone while keeping your application.
To request access, correction, a copy, or deletion of information about you, email privacy@birdhouse.tech with a description of your request. Include the address you used to contact or register with BirdHouse. A product name or approximate date can help locate the relevant record; do not include identity documents or account credentials in your initial message.
Depending on the request, proportionate verification or evidence of an authorized agent’s authority may be necessary to protect your information. If a request cannot be fulfilled in full, applicable law may require an explanation and an appeal route. To seek review, email the same address with “Privacy appeal” in the subject and refer to the earlier response.
- Request handling, verification, and appeals
- Email privacy@birdhouse.tech to request access, correction, a copy, or deletion of your information. We may verify control of the address associated with the information before disclosing or changing records and request evidence of an authorized agent's authority where needed. We respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any limits on what we can provide. To request review of a response, use the same address with 'Privacy appeal' in the subject.
Regional privacy rights
Your rights depend on where you live, the information and activity involved, and whether a particular law applies. Nothing in this policy limits rights that applicable law gives you.
United States
Applicable state laws may provide rights to know or access information, obtain a portable copy, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, and appeal a denied request. Where relevant, they may also provide rights to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling, or to limit particular uses of sensitive information. Exercising a protected privacy right must not result in unlawful discrimination.
California and other state laws have different coverage rules. Operating from Virginia does not by itself determine which state laws apply. The categories, sources, purposes, recipients, and retention described in this policy are intended to make this website’s processing understandable; any additional disclosures required for a covered business must also be provided.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
Where applicable, rights may include access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, objection to certain processing, and withdrawal of consent. You may object to direct marketing and may lodge a complaint with the competent data-protection authority. These rights have legal conditions and exceptions. International access to this website does not by itself establish that every regional law applies.
- Additional regional disclosures and contacts
- Requests and appeals use privacy@birdhouse.tech. The rights described in this section apply according to the law governing the request, and nothing in this policy limits those rights. Where applicable, you may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
International processing
DataHawk is based in the United States. Where a provider handles information in another country, that country’s privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Required transfer safeguards depend on the applicable law and the actual providers and processing locations; using the website is not a blanket waiver of those safeguards.
- Website processing locations
- Cloudflare delivers the website through its global network. Requests may be processed in the United States and other countries.
- Interest-form and email processing locations
- Application records are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database configured for the United States. Cloudflare Workers and Turnstile process requests through Cloudflare's global network. Google Workspace may process correspondence in the United States and other countries where Google or its service providers operate; we do not promise that all processing remains in one country.
- Transfer arrangements and safeguards
- Cloudflare's and Google's data-processing terms describe safeguards for international transfers, including standard contractual clauses where applicable. Contact privacy@birdhouse.tech for information about safeguards relevant to your information.
Children & eligibility
This website explains development tools for people evaluating BirdHouse for their projects. Its interest form is not intended for submitting player or child information. It is not a player registration form.
- Audience and age eligibility
- Early-access applications and waitlist signup are for adults only. Minors may not sign up.
- Markets served
- Our initial focus is developers in the United States. Availability in other countries is subject to applicable requirements.
If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact privacy@birdhouse.tech so the circumstances and appropriate steps can be assessed. Please do not include extra information about the child beyond what is needed to locate the submission. A product’s use by a game does not replace that game operator’s responsibilities toward its players.
Policy changes
The date at the top identifies this version. We will post revisions on this page and provide additional notice or obtain consent where applicable law requires it. A change to this text alone does not authorize a new use of information already collected.
